As a professional automotive technician who specializes in European vehicle repair, this is an invaluable diagnostic tool. This optical bypass is used to diagnose optical communication BUS issues in modules. I mostly use these on BMW vehicles. These are used to "bypass" modules to restore communication and determine which modules are faulty. The quality and function of this tool is very good and well worth the low cost. 5 stars

Recently a component on one of my cars went out and was causing the fiber ring to keep going down. I would lose signal and then it would come back. Troubleshot it and found it was a bad device that I needed to bypass. This did the trick. plugged into my fiber cable and bypassed the bad device. problem solved.
